The Buffalo Exchange Arts Award 2020 Award Recipient: Luis Rodriguez
The Buffalo Exchange Arts Award encourages creativity and innovation in the arts in Southern Arizona.
It was established by Buffalo Exchange owner Kerstin Block and her late husband, Spencer Block, to encourage creativity, innovation, and excellence in the arts. The focus of the award rotates each year between emerging artists in the performing arts and visual arts.
Artists are nominated and selected by two separate panels of experts familiar with the Southern Arizona Arts scene. Since 1994, almost $250,000 have been awarded through this fund held at the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona.

THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT MURAL PROJECT
1519 Artist Mario Valencia joined fellow Yaqui Artist Brandon Varela in working with Old Pascua Youth on a butterfly effect mural to help raise funds for OPYA.

1519 Rebellion: Itom Luturia (Our Truth)
Featuring the work of Pascua Yaqui artists Raul Osuna, Luis Rodriguez, and Mario Valencia, owners/operators of 1519 Rebellion, this exhibit introduces us to the myriad issues the Yaqui people face today on both sides of the international border. Each artist, through his paintings, addresses issues such as family, culture, identity, heritage, water rights, and social justice.
